Bollywood Actress Juhi Chawla was born on 13th November 1967 in Ludhiana, Punjab her father is Dr. S. Chawla and her mother Mona is from Gujarati family. Juhi has one brother his name is Sanjeev. She lost her mother in 1998 in a accident when she was shooting for movie Duplicate. After completing her school education from Ludhiana she then shifted to Mumbai, there she joined Sydenham College after completing her graduation, she took part in Miss India Competition in 1984 and won the competition and she was crowned Miss India. She is also an accomplished dancer. She got married with industrialist Jay Mehta. From her wedlock she has two children a daughter Jhanvi born in 2001, and a son Arjun born in 2003.
Juhi’s first debut on the screen took place in 1986 in film Sultant in which she played a role of Zarina. Juhi Chawla has also acted in Kannada classic movie Premaloka in 1987 directed by Ravichandran. She got her first major role in Bollywood Industry in movie Qayamat Se Qayamat tak which was released in 1988, in this movie she was starred with Amir Khan, this movie was based on Shakespear’s novel Romeo and Juliet. This movie received great success at the box office and won Filmfare Best Movie Award and Juhi won her first Filmfare award as Filmfare Lux New Face Award, on the other hand she received her first nomination for Filmfare Best Actress Award.
In 90’s she was starred in movies like Pratiband and this movie received box office success and for her acting in this movie she was nominated the Filmfare Best Actress Award for movie Sward also. In 1992 Juhi Chawla was nominated for a Filmfare for her acting in movie Bol Radha Bol. In 1993 she was seen in movie such as Aaina and lootere though these both movie did an average business at box office but same year she gave hit Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and this movie was directed by Mahesh Bhatt for this movie she received Fimlfare Best Actress Award.
Juhi got leading role in Yash Chopra’s thriller movie Darr and this movie became third top-grossing at the box office. Some of her movie during the period 1994 to 96 were unsuccessful, therefore she received a nomination of filmfare for her role as battered wife in movie Daraar. In 1997 she acted in romantic comedies such as Yes Boss, Deewana Mastana, Raju Ban Gaya Genleman and Ishq. Ishq become one of the top- gainer of the year, she won her 6th Filmfare nomination for her role in movie Yes Boss.
In 2000 Juhi started appearing in Independent films such as 3 Deewarein, 7½ Phere and My Brother Nikhil. She received Star Screen Award as best supporting actress for movie 3 Deewarein. She was next seen in Salaam-e-Ishq movie directed by Nikhil Advani for this movie she good reviews from the criitcs as well as audience. In 2006 she acted with Urmila Matondkar in movie Bas Ek Pal same year she also acted with Manoj Bajpai in movie Swami. Juhi also acted in movie Bothnath in this movie she acted with Amitab Bachchan in this movie she made her debut in singing a song “Chalo Jaane Do”. She also acted with Irfan Khan and Arshad Warsi in Krazzy 4 in 2008. She also did guest appearance in Luck By Chance released in 2009.
Her latest release was Onir’s critically acclaimed feature I Am Megha in 2011 the film starred Chawla alongside Manisha Koirala. For her performance, Juhi Chawla was awarded the Best Actress award at the 13th London Asian Film Festival and she also received award for her Brilliance in Hindi Cinema at the Asia vision Movie Awards.
Juhi Chawla turned producer and became the co-owner of a production company called Dreamz Unlimited with Shahrukh Khan and director Aziz Mirza. The movie produced by the production company were Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka. Her third venture of production company Dreamz Unlimited Chalte Chalte received first success.
