Bollywood versatile actress Deepika Padkone was born on 5th January 1986, in Denmark. She is a daughter of Ujjala & Prakash Padukone, her father is great badminton champion and her mother is travel agent, Anisha is her younger sister. She did her schooling from Sophia High School Bangalore, she then went to Mount Carmel Collage for further studies, then she joined Indira Gandhi National Open University to pursue her B.A in sociology, however she left B.A in between due to her modeling commitments.
During her school days she started playing badminton and she is national level badminton champion. Apart from badminton she also played baseball and participated in number of state level competitions. During her schooling day she has also done modeling as child model, when she was in tenth, she decided to quit sports and started focusing on her dream of becoming fashion model. She became full time model in 2004 under the guidance of Prasad.
She started her modeling on small screen and started endorsing for companies like Lirl, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca apart from this she also became brand ambassador of Jeweler brands. She overnight became international model when she was signed by Maybelline and made her appeared as cover page. Apart from this she received award for Model Of Year at fifth annual award fuction which was conducted by Kingfisher. She also did shooting for Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar in 2006 and received title of supermodel.
When she was 21 she shifted to Mumbai from Bangalore to her aunt’s house, and later she was signed by Himesh Reshammiya for musical video “Naam Hai Tera”, soon after appearing in Himesh Reshammiy’s music album she started receiving calls from number of filmmakers, however taking into consideration that she still needs some guidance in term of acting, she enrolled herself with Anupam Kher’s film academy. Later Farhan Akhtar approached actress for his upcoming project “Happy New Year”.
She made her acting debut with Kannada flick “Aishwarya” in 2006,She became overnight superstar with her outstanding performance in SRK starrer “Om Shanti OM (2007), in 2008 she did “Bachna Ae Haseeno”, “Chandni Chowk To China” in 2009. She did number of bollywood flick but her powerful project were “Piku”, “Tamasha” , “Bajirao Mastani and recently released periodic drama “Padmaavat(2018)”. She made her Hollywood debut with xXX:Return Of Xander Cage in 2015
Apart from acting actress has done number of stage shows and has also written number of columns in number of popular newspapers, she is also working for her foundation named “Live Love Laugh Foundation”.
She has been nominated by Asian Film Award , Big Star Entertainment Award , CNN-IBN Indian of The Year award, Filmfare Award, International Indian Film Academy Award, People Choice Award, Producer Guild Film Awards, Screen awards, Stardust Award, Teen Choice Award and Zee Cine Award and many more.
